Namu Guest House!

Hello! ^_^

so i decided to write about the first GH that we stayed in Korea.

It's called Namu Guesthouse. Forgot to ask what's Namu means,

bcuz I did found numbers of shop with the same name 'Namu'. ㅋㅋㅋ

When we first arrived, the day-time manager,Jia greeted us.

She showed us around the GH, and then lead us to our room.

We opted for the mixed dorm, 19 900 won per person/night after 10% discount.

normally 22 000 won for mixed dorm.

At first,i do think it's kinda expensive for a budget traveller like me,

maybe this GH is better for those travelling with family members.

but after a day there,i understood.

It's as comfy as home! The managers do comes around during morning & evening,

but they didn't stay at the GH,so it does feels like home.

and laundering place outside*

*mixed-dorm*

*common area-PC & telephone,books*

The environment is so relaxed & cool,very clean and spacious as well.

What i like the most is that, one of their rules are " No smoking & No alcohol inside Namu" :D

Breakfast made by Jia every morning,except her day off,

where she'll prepared everything beforehand.

HJ will be there during evening hours to assist us with anything.

Also there'll be Jason, kinda like the housekeeper,he'll come & clean the GH everyday!

Hardworking boy is always handsome! ㅋㅋㅋ

Internet on PC & Wifi as well as telephone provided for the guests,

there's also 2 shared bathroom available.

Towels are provided too.

Jia & HJ,the managers,speaks great English,so need no worries!

There'll be no problem if we wanna ask for direction,

or just wanna talk with them. They always asked about our day,

they wanna ensure we did have a great day in Korea. :D

How to go there.

1. From subway line 2,off at Hongik Univ station,search for exit 2.

2.Came out from the subway,u'll see gas station in front of u, just turn left,and follow till end of road.

3.There's traffic light there,cross the road and turn right and walk straight until u see Hana Bank.

4. Then turn left again, then just walk straight.

5.Walk until u see a shop named 'AURA' then,turn right.

6. Follow the road,u'll see Namu GH on ur left side.They're on the 1st floor :D

Day 3 - 7th Feb : of Bukchon, Namsan..and......Hongik Uni again :P

A freezing 'Annyeong' from me! xD

Actually we're planning to check out from Namu Guesthouse today,

but we're not done sightseeing around Hongdae & our foot are too tired anyway,

so we decided that we're extending our stay here for another night.

After a failed mission of searching the Hongik Uni the day before,

we're thinking,why not giving it another shot.

As we walked around this area,with a map of course,

we found the Picasso Street, the oh-so-exciting-club street

(why?bcuz YG-owned club's located there- nb1 & nb2 aka Harlem)

and also the interesting mural street.

Hongdae area is so vibrant,with colorful building as well as interesting aka weird deco,

yeah,it's a youth street.

There's also the 'Hello Kitty Cafe' here in a small alley,but we didn't go inside,

bcuz it's still too early when we arrived. It says that the operation time start only at 11am.

Not far from the Kitty cafe,there's a branch of 'Coffee Prince Cafe' aka "Tiramisu Cafe'.

Owned by MBC,

it's decorated to look like the original cafe,also in this area.

Finally we met the Hongdae Univ!! By the time we reached there, i believed it's lunch hour.

So students were all rushing out,hahaha. This Uni seems more relaxed compared to Yonsei,

even the building speaks itself :P

Suddenly it's gotten too cold, we just can't stand it anymore,so we retrieved to our guesthouse again. Jia told us that it's -10C. aaahh,no wonder!!

We stayed inside for a good couple hours before deciding to make another attempt to go outside.

Bukchon Hanok Village was our destination.

We asked direction from Jia, and braves our way there.

From Anguk station,exit 3,it's Bukchon Hanok Village area.

This place is so cool! Like it's so unique!

The alley,the houses,and there's the wall of a palace next to it.

We followed the direction given,and with the map of several ideal photo spots,

managed to track almost all of them.

If you forget,it's the place that Kim Jongmin covered in the

'Seoul in a day"' special episode of 1n2d.

Later on before it gets dark,we braves our way to Namsan Tower.

By bus 02 from Chungmuro,it goes all the way up to Namsan,and we need to hike a bit.

But damn!!!!! It's very-very-very cold up there!!!!

It's very beautiful though.

We did our best,looking all around ,snapping pictures before running to the waiting buses.

It's getting tooo cold for us & our camera too,

so please mind the low quality pictures :P

After i did it,so many tourists did it too.

They're just too shy before that.hahaha

On our way to our place of staying,we stop at one Korean restaurant shop that sells Bibimbap,Ddeokbokki & Ramyeon,etc.

We ordered those three,and barely could finish it all up.

And it only cost us 8500 won,kamsahamnida Ahjusshi!! xD

p/s:Funny how a girl from tropical country travel during winter time,

all that came out from our mouth is just 'COLD'! 'COLD!'

And it's interesting to see Korean girls could wear mini-skirts and leggings

and some even just mini skirt with bare leg,in this bitter cold.

HJ (Namu's manager) said bcuz they're used to it. Wow,like lucky u!

Well anyway,later we learned that it's -12 that day.

No wonder I'm so freakin cold even with 3 layers :O

Day 1- Namu Guest House it is!

Good Morning!!
We woke up at 4.30 am,and saw the girl that besides us bought some MC'D breakfast.
We asked for the price and think it's affordable,so we went for it.
Just for 5200 won for a set & another cup of coffee add-on.

Bought T-Money cards (2500won each) for us and recharge it at 10 000won,each.
And guess what, also bought the banana uyuu!
Tasted like banana! Feels like drinking banana! hahaha,just 1000won.

As we went to the subway, Bigbang welcomed us!!

Of course Mr Lee Seunggi is there too!!

What a great way to kick off our day!! :D
It's our 2nd time in subway,1st in SG.
woooww,it's heated seating!! So comfy~

Our destination is to Hongik Univ Station,Line 2,Exit 2

we're going to Namu Guest house, located at Hongik Uni Area.
Checked-in for 2 nights,mixed-beds dorm,
total of 79000won,cuz they have 10% discount during Feb.
Jia greeted us :D



After leaving our bags & refreshing ourselves a bit,
we headed to Deoksugung to watch the royal guards changing ceremony.
And we got lost in translation,as we mistakenly read the map upside down!!
Hahaha.
We ended up in Insadong,and walked our way to the palace.

Arrived just in time for the ceremony ~ the guards are all tall & big guys.

Just outside the Palace is the Gwanghwamun Square.
There's located the statue of the Great Sejong.
The square is soooooooo freakin huge too.
And btw, Deosukgung was located near to mountain,cooler there compared to our guest-house.

And then we walked down the Cheonggyecheon Stream,it's so nice.

There's a few musician playing music along the stream too.
We're so tired,so we decided to head to hostel,
took the subway,line 2,Euljiro-1-ga to Hongik Station.
Arrived at hostel,ate our maggi mee and crashed down at 6pm.
