I'm going to Penang today, with another couple friends of mine.
It's an islands on the northern part of Malaysia, highly diverse in ethnicity, culture, language, and confessions. It's famous for being cultural pot and of course their food,i can't wait to experience it myself!
Growing up, in Malaysia, where people of different races and religions, live side by side, growing up together, goes to school together, eat together, hang out together, speaks the language of nation,Bahasa as well as the language of ancestors, well, i gotta say we live pretty damn great here. Regardless of religions, everyone is entitled to practice their belief. Islam,Buddha,Hindu,Christian or even Atheist or u name it u got it. and i don't really get why on earth religion could be a sensitive issue. I mean, for you is your religion, and mine is for me. Respect is the main key! I'm a Muslim and i do respect people of other belief. So today, i'll take on religion, Islam,my religion,my belief. ^^ and specifically I'm gonna blog about Fasting in Islam as the Ramadhan is just around the corner!Yaay!
First of all, there's a five pillar in Islam.
i.Testimony
ii.Prayer
iii.Fasting
iv.Alms giving/ Zakat
v.Pilgrimage
As you can see, fasting is there, the third in the pillar. We,Muslims fast during the ninth month of Islamic calendar, which is the month of Ramadhan. The entire month that is. Below is the detailed explanation.
"Fasting is another unique moral and spiritual characteristic of Islam. Literally defined, fasting means to abstain "completely" from foods, drinks, intimate intercourse and smoking, before the break of the dawn till sunset, during the entire month of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic year. But if we restrict the meaning of the Islamic Fasting to this literal sense, we would be sadly mistaken" ~Fasting In Islam
At the most basic, other than just to show our devotion, Muslim fast just to reminds us that not everyone are as lucky as we are. Unfortunate people might have to eat only a meal or two for a day, and had to fight the hunger through out the day. That's the lesson i learned from it,apart from all the religious reason, when we're having hard time/in total hunger on a HOT day, that's when we return to GOD. We pray to GOD to lessen the burden and most importantly we became to appreciate what we have and eat for the day. It's such a relief when I break the fast after the sunset. I've been fasting since i was a little kid, so it's not really a burden to me anymore, well it used to be :P It's now a responsibility.
Usually the month of Ramadhan is the hottest month of all months. It's now already very-very piercing hot in Malaysia, i hope the weather will not be too harsh during Ramadhan. This year, we might start to fast on 1st August till the 30th, and we'll celebrate it on 31st of August, the same day as Malaysia Independence Day. This is gonna be interesting!!! Double celebration!
No matter what is your belief, it's YOU that counts!! You and only you, because i'm very sure in every religion, there's love and compassion being teach and preach. Let the love guide our life. Like, religion is a sensitive issue? what, it's even an issue? xoxo
I've lived. I've really really lived. I've failed. I've been devastated. I've been broken. I've gone to hell and back. And I've also known joy. And passion. And I've had a great love. See death for me is not justice. It's a ... end of a beautiful journey. And I'm not afraid to die. The question is, are you? A life in prison or an afterlife ... with your wife. Me or you? Your choice.~Richard Webber
Yes or no. In or out. Up or down. Live or die. Hero or coward. Fight or give in. I'll say it again to make sure you hear me.The human life is made up of choices. Live or die. That's the important choice. And it's not always in our hands.~ Derek Shepherd
The human life is made up of choices. Yes or no. In or out. Up or down. And then there are the choices that matter. Love or hate. To be a hero or to be a coward. To fight or to give in. To live. Or die. Live or die. That's the important choice. And it's not always in our hands.~Derek Shepherd
For most people, the hospital is a scary place. A hostile place. A place where bad things happen. Most people would prefer church, or school, or home, but I grew up here. While my mom was on rounds, I learned to read in the OR gallery, I played in the morgue, I coloured with crayons on old ER charts. Hospital was my church, my school, my home; hospital was my safe place, my sanctuary. I love it here. Correction: loved it here.~ Meredith Grey.
Ask most people what they want out of life and the answer is simple - to be happy. Maybe it's this expectation though of wanting to be happy that just keeps us from ever getting there. Maybe the more we try to will ourselves to state's of bliss, the more confused we get - to the point where we don't recognize ourselves. Instead we just keep smiling - trying to be the happy people we wish we were. Until it eventually hits us, it's been there all along. Not in our dreams or our hopes but in the known, the comfortable, the familiar. ~Meredith Grey.
It's a common belief that positive thinking leads to a happier healthier life. As children we are told to smile, be cheerful, and put on a happy face. As adults we are told to look on the bright side, to make lemonade, and see glasses as half full. Sometimes reality can get in the way of our ability to act the happy part though. Youre hope can fail, boyfriends can cheat, friends can disappoint. It's in these moments, when you just want to get real, drop the act, and be your true scared unhappy self.~Meredith Grey.
No matter how thick skinned we try to be, there's millions of electrifying nerve endings in there. Open and exposed and feeling way too much. Try as we might to keep from feeling pain, sometimes it's just unavoidable. Sometimes that's the only thing left - just feeling.~Meredith Grey.
The skin is the largest organ in the body - it protects us. Holds us together. Literally lets us know what we are feeling. The skin can be soft and vulnerable. Highly sensitive, easy to break. Skin doesn't matter to a surgeon. We will cut right through it, go inside, find out the secrets underneath. It takes delicacy and sensitivity.~Meredith Grey.
Everyday we get to give the gift of life, it can be painful, it can be terrifying, but in the end it's worth it. Every time. We all have the opportunity to give. Maybe the gifts are not as dramatic as what happens in the operating room, maybe the gift is to try and make a simple apology, maybe it's to understand another person's point of view, maybe it's to hold a secret for a friend. The joy supposedly is in the giving, so when the joy is gone, when the giving starts to feel more like a burden, that's when you stop. But if you're like most people I know, you give till it hurts, and then you give some more.~Meredith Grey.
The best gift I ever got was for Christmas when I was ten - my very first suture kit. I used it until my fingers bled, and then I tried to use it to stitch up my fingers. It put me on the path to becoming a surgeon. My point is sometimes the best gifts come in really surprising packages.~Meredith Grey.
Doctors live in a world of constant progress and forward motion. Stand still for a second, and you'll be left behind. But as hard as we try to move forward, as tempting as it is to never look back, the past always comes back to bite us in the ass. And as history shows us again and again, those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.~Meredith Grey
Sometimes the past is something you just can't let go of. And sometimes the past is something we'll do anything to forget. And sometimes we learn something new about the past that changes everything we know about the present.~Meredith Grey
They say the bigger your investment, the bigger your return. But you have to be willing to take a chance. You have to understand, you might lose it all. But if you take that chance, if you invest wisely the pay off might just surprise you.~Meredith Grey
It's impossible to describe the panic that comes over you when you're a surgeon and your pager goes off in the middle of the night. Your heart starts to race. Your mind freezes. Your fingers go numb. You're invested. There's someone's mum, someone's dad, someone's kid. And now it's on you because that someone's life is in your hands. Surgeons, we're always investing in our patients. But when your patient's a child, you're not just invested, you're responsible. Responsible for whether or not that child survives, has a future. And that's enough to terrify anyone.~Meredith Grey Adapt or die. As many times as we've heard it, the lesson doesn't get easier. The problem is we're human. We want more than just to survive. We want love. We want success. We want to be the best that we can be. So, we fight like hell to get those things. Anything else feels like death.~Meredith Grey
Stoning at home.Doing nothing, like absolutely nothing.. I've finished my beading aka creative project so now I'm left with pretty much nothing to do. Eat, watch tv, online, sleep and repeat the cycle again~every single day. There's nothing to be done here. I'll be amazed if my brain could function properly when the new semester start soon.
In one of the previous entry, I've posted about learning Bahasa Melayu. hahaha, well, nobody hit me up,or whatsoever, meaning that nobody's interested! Boo-yah! Kinda makes me wonder, those people that feedjit showed me, was that false one? No one came to this blog except for me, literally! hahaha, however it doesn't matter. I'll just blog for my own good.

I need a proper plan for my Seoul's trip. Now that it's getting close-and-closer to the date, even though,it's next year, but still, time flies~fast! I'm like at the edge of freaking out, that i haven't really plan anything out properly. I mean, I haven't book anything or review places or even list them down. See why i'm freaking out now?!
Actually I already kind of have all these ideas of places i wanna visit there. Palaces, temples, and the Sans ( seoraksan, etc)~ is a must! Also, I've been really seriously considering about the places that we want to stay. I mean, the choices from hostels,to guesthouses to goshiwons and to even jimjilbang and airport, haven't really been decide yet. Still waiting for my sister to have any free time to discuss on this matter together or i might as well shall start working on this itinerary and shall make slot in her busy schedule to sort of see and give me her opinions on the plan. It's winter we're talking about here.
Well, well, I'm really-really-really hoping that this trip gonna be our best memories before she left for University. I even recommend her to just study in South Korea, but then she want to be a doctor, and I'm not sure whether or not South Korea's Unis recognized by our government for medical studies. Urgh, situation at home is not good that i wanna send away every each of my baby. I love them and i don't want to see them going through all this. *Go go away,eh eh eh as 2ne1 would say*
Anyway, back to topic, i need some of ideas and opinions,on where to stay, where to visit, where to eat, or if anyone wanna invite me to stay at ur place, or etc ^^ anything! just drop a comment!
PM( yep, Prime Minister of Malaysia) was in Machang last weekends. The Red Warriors was with him during the meet-the-local session at Sekolah Kebangsaan Machang 1.Good to see PM himself came here and sort of see for himself and check on the people and the situation here in Kelantan. Maybe he shall come visit more often. ^^
Anyway, i went to the event with my family and there's thousands of people already when we arrived. So we just stay there for about an hour, because it's too crowded and also it's damn hot that day~ and to my craziest mind,i was wearing my sweater still. I was running an errands from morning, I went to meet with Kak Filah and had lunch with Ain and Kak, so by the time i got home, i totally got no time to change at all. Dad was waiting in car and i just hopped in his after i got off my car. While i'm sweating like an athlete that noon, others would be staring at me, giving me the face of 'why the heck she's wearing that sweater in this kind of weather' yeah,yeah..i just smile, well, like i would care any-less.hahaha
The highlight of the day of course, besides PM, was the Red Warriors team. Locals were so excited to see them. The day before,Friday, they went to UiTM, although my Uni is just 5 minutes away, i missed the events. I only knew about that on Saturday. On Saturday, however, i missed yet again another fan-meeting at the SMK Hamzah. The players gave out free tickets to those fans who showed up wearing the team's jersey. Yeah, i missed that. I was at lunch when that happened. Not my lucky day i guess.
I did snap loads of pictures however, see for yourself. ^^
this is how hot that day
Dad met his long time friend, he's retired now.
The drums

The YB Anuar Musa was chatting with the red warriors fan

Upon receiving her invitation, i just said yes right away, because it's been quite sometime since I've been there. Here's some pictures^^ It's just a short trip, we went and came back home straight away. She stayed at my place that night. keke,so much fun!
